MICHELLE HOOGVELD

Michelle Hoogveld is a mixed media painter who approaches her artwork both intuitively and with intention, utilizing a variety of mediums to emphasize the realistic qualities of her subjects, but also to experiment with different methods of layering, abstraction and color combinations. Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, Michelle aims to tell a story, centering on personal interactions, habitual routines, the places we encounter and the connections we form with others. Michelle's work can be seen in homes, businesses and public spaces across North America and Europe. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Design from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida and a Bachelor of Art Education from UBC in Vancouver, British Columbia. Currently she lives and works from her home studio in Calgary, Alberta.
